Submission Specifics

  • The video and text description must describe how the project works and how it can be installed successfully.
  • Projects must run on the platform specified in the submission requirements.
  • Projects must be made freely available without restriction by the entrant.
  • All submission materials must be in English.
  • Submit your complete participation form on LSET before the final deadline.

Eligibility

  • Regardless of their backgrounds, genders, or locations, all individuals are welcome to participate in the LSET Hackathon above the legal age of 18.
  • Committee members are not eligible to participate in the hackathon. During the coding/development phase, they may assist the team mentors.
  • No country restriction applies, but if you win, you're responsible for paying any taxes or visa fees on the prize winnings (if you win).

Team Formation

  • The number of team members can range from one to four. On a case-by-case basis, exceptions can be made for teams with more than four members. Contact the LSET hackathon committee if you need a team of more than four members.
  • Changes to team members are not permitted.
  • As determined by the judging committee, exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis.

Project Submission

Team names and LSET registration are required for all teams.

The LSET team page listing should have the following:

  • The team lead should list a mobile phone number on the team LSET page (after judging is completed, the number may be removed)
  • Brief biographies will be provided for all team members.
  • Short abstract of the project (optional).
  • The hackathon theme.
  • The development tools used to build the project.
  • APIs used in the project.
  • Any assets used in the project.
  • Any libraries used in the project.
  • Any components not created during the hackathon.
  • A link to the team's GitHub repository.
  • Upload a YouTube video demonstrating the application with a screen capture.

All projects should be submitted to the hackathon LSET account (TBA) before judging begins on Sunday, November 26th, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. GMT. Disqualification will result from failure to submit. The team repository should be committed regularly throughout the hackathon. A team that commits its entire repository near the end of the hackathon, Sunday, November 26th, 2023, could be disqualified for violating a rule.

All project submissions will be randomly code-reviewed. All applications will undergo random checks by code reviewers. Projects chosen as finalists by the judges will undergo a thorough code review process to ensure the code is original and created specifically for the hackathon.

When development ends, at least one member from each team will meet with the judging team to review their submissions and verify that their LSET pages have been updated correctly.

Social Media Rules & Regulation

By participating in the hackathon and agreeing to these terms and conditions, you commit to engaging with the London School of Emerging Technology's social media platforms in the following ways:

  • Social Media Engagement: The LSET requires you to follow all official social media platforms, like Instagram, Facebook, Twitter(X), LinkedIn, and any other channels specified.
  • Active Engagement: You must actively engage with LSET's social media content. This includes regularly liking, sharing, and commenting on our posts as appropriate and relevant to the content.
  • Subscription: You must subscribe to LSET's social media channels where applicable, such as YouTube channels or newsletters, as specified by LSET.
  • Story Reposting: You are expected to repost LSET's stories or relevant content on your own social media channels. This helps in spreading awareness about the hackathon and LSET's initiatives.
  • Content Appropriateness: When engaging with LSET's social media content, you must ensure respectful and relevant. The social media platform's community guidelines and policies must also be followed.
  • Acknowledgement and Attribution: When sharing or reposting LSET's content, you must acknowledge and attribute it to LSET appropriately. Do not present LSET's content as your own.
  • Privacy and Data Protection: You must respect the privacy of individuals in any content you share or repost. Obtain necessary permissions and consent when featuring individuals in your posts.
  • Compliance with social media Rules: You are responsible for complying with the rules and terms of use of the social media platforms you use to engage with LSET's content.
  • Promotion Period: These terms apply during the promotion period specified by LSET for the hackathon or related initiatives.
  • Termination of Participation: LSET reserves the right to terminate your participation in the hackathon or related initiatives if you fail to adhere to these terms and conditions.
  • Modification of Terms: LSET may modify these terms and conditions at any time, and it is your responsibility to review them regularly for updates.

By participating in the hackathon and engaging with LSET's social media platforms in the ways outlined above, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to these terms and conditions. Failure to comply with these terms may result in the termination of your participation in the hackathon.
